Here at Gibbs Gears, we are well equipped with the latest accurate gear grinding machinery and experienced engineers for the finishing of hardened precision ground gears. Precision gear grinding is a term which is used to finish the involute form on very accurate and normally hardened ground gears. This process is usually required when very quiet gears are required.
When a gear is heat treated there is a lot of movement in the material due to it being subjected to enormous heat, normally above 1000 degrees celcius. If the gears flanks are not ground after heat treatment then they will not be perfectly silent due to these irregularities.

The P90 G is a universal grinding machine which can perform three different grinding methods (threaded wheel grinding, profile grinding, single index grinding) in addition to hobbing; fulfilling today’s requirements from prototype to small and large scale production.
Wheel dressing:
The P90G is capable of form grinding using plated wheels made to the most precise quality standards. They feature a hardened steel body with ground mounting surfaces and precision ground profiles plated with a single layer of CBN or diamond abrasive.
Profile accuracy and surface quality are guaranteed to meet customer requirements for accuracy, faster metal removal rates, and predictable tool life in all types of tool and cutter grinding applications.
The P90G also has dress-able cbn grinding capability. The P90G utilises an on board dressing unit that can dress and form grit type cbn wheels from solid. This enables Gibbs Gears to form the grinding wheel to a standard or a non-standard pitch form or pressure angle.
